Suggest a missing song to Singa. Sign in at Singa.com, open your profile menu and choose “Request a song”. Singa reviews requests; availability depends on production and music rights, so a request does not guarantee the song will be added.

How the karaoke queue works at The Star 🎤

We want as many people as possible to enjoy their moment on stage. Our karaoke host organises songs into rounds so everyone has a fair chance to sing.

One name all evening — no made-up names

Choose a clear name, preferably your first name and surname initial, such as “Cecilie K”. Several guests may share a first name. “Cecilie K” and “Cecilie A” help the host recognise two different people.

Use exactly the same name for every song request throughout the evening.

Do not use made-up names or change your name to get extra turns. You could be mistaken for a new singer and move ahead of people who are waiting. This makes the queue unfair and creates extra work for the host.

One person, one consistent name all evening.

Name everyone who will sing

For a duet or group performance, include every participant’s name in the request. Write “Ole B and Kari S”, for example, rather than just “Ole B”.

Everyone should use the same name as on their individual requests. This lets the host know who is going on stage and allocate turns fairly.

One song per person in each round

When you submit a song using the Singa app or our kiosk, it appears for the karaoke host. The host monitors new requests and adds new singers to the rotation as the evening progresses.

You can submit several requests, but we select one of your songs per round. More requests give us more songs to choose from — not extra places for you in the same round.

If you already have a song in the current round, your other requests must wait for a later round.

A group song also counts as your turn

A group performance counts as a turn for everyone taking part.

If Nils, Johan, Rune and Kim have a group song in the current round, Kim does not also get a solo turn in that round. The solo request must wait for a later round.

This is why we need the names of everyone who will sing.

Why do I have to wait?

The more people want to sing, the longer the wait. The host keeps track of who has already sung, who is waiting and who is new to the queue.

The list of submitted songs is therefore not a simple queue played in submission order. We share turns among singers so one person does not take several turns while others are still waiting for their first.

Clear names and a complete list of participants help us do this.

If the rules are not followed

The karaoke host may leave a song request out of the rotation if these rules are broken. This includes made-up names, changing names to gain extra turns, or failing to name all participants.

Ask the host if you are unsure or need to correct your request. We want everyone to sing and the queue to be fair for everyone.

Thank you for giving others the same chance to shine that you would like yourself.
